CARRUS BV ENTERS INTO MAJOR PURCHASE AGREEMENT
Last month, Carrus BV – Carts & Parts entered into an agreement with a major European party for the procurement of a large quantity of golf carts and parts. The agreement covers the purchase of more than 3300 used golf and transport carts, as well as thousands of parts and accessories. This is the largest acquisition ever in the used carts market and will greatly strengthen Carrus’ position as European market leader.

Carrus is a brand-independent supplier of top brand carts, parts and accessories, like Club Car, E-Z-GO and Yamaha. The company, based in the region of Utrecht, the Netherlands, provides transport solutions to various markets throughout Europe, including the leisure sector, golf courses and industry. It sells its products through a European dealer network, as well as through its own online shop at www.carrus.com, where all carts and parts can be found and ordered very easily.

The purchase agreement now entered covers used carts that are still partly operational on the basis of current lease agreements. More than 2300 carts, which are currently in stock and whose lease contracts are ending, will be shipped to the Netherlands in 2010. Next year, another 1000 carts will follow, when their lease contracts have also expired. The first carts and parts have already arrived at the Carrus depot in the region of Utrecht. The carts can be modified for any given application in accordance with the customer’s wishes at Carrus’ own workshop.

SHADY’S: BRINGING SHADE & INNOVATION TO GOLF CARTS…TO KEEP YOU COOL!
Shadys, with its beginning in the hot South Florida sun, where golfing and golf carts are a way of life, has taken away the worry of being in the sun all day.  Founder Jaime Parker, and creator Steven Horejsi, credit Jaime’s mother-in-law, Adrienne Broch, for giving them the idea.  In 2007 Adrienne, an avid golfer, received a serious diagnosis of melanoma skin cancer directly attributed to her extensive time in the sun spent playing golf.  Instead of giving up the game she loved, she decided it was time to protect her from the sun as much as possible.  If long sleeve shirts, pants, sunglasses, hats, and 50 SPF sunscreen weren’t enough, Adrienne proceeded to hang shade cloth from the sides of golf carts when she golfed in an effort to block the sun and create a cooler place of refuge from the heat…something golfers contend with on a daily basis.  Says Adrienne, “I researched other products and was unimpressed with their design and functionality, but thanks to Shadys, I no longer need to play golf only during the early morning or late afternoon hours, and I don’t need to spend time on the course trying to find shade, concerning myself with sunburns, or stressing about skin damage.  With its sporty design, Shadys let’s me enjoy golfing and driving around the neighborhood on a golf cart stress free and looking good”.

FAIRPLAY EXPANDS BRAND OFFERING
In 2009, Fairplay Electric introduced the EVE brand of street legal electric cars.  Due to the increased demand for electric industrial and commercial vehicles, Fairplay has introduced a product line specifically to serve this market.

“Many of our existing dealers are expanding into light industrial products to increase sales and make up for the slowdown in their other product lines.  We have reconfigured some of our vehicles to meet the needs for this market,” says Keith Andrews, President of Fairplay Electric Cars.  “The HOSS commercial and industrial lineup is made up of robust versions of each vehicle, including our efficient high torque AC drive systems and sealed AGM batteries.”

When you visit the all new Fairplay web site, you can see the distinction between the product lines.  “We have separate dealer agreements for our three product offerings.  This allows dealers to tie up exclusive marketing areas for brands that matter to them.  In some markets, we have one dealer with all three product lines and in others three separate dealers.”

To see the complete lineup of Fairplay Electric Vehicles and find out how you can become a dealer for the product line that best fits your needs, go to the new www.fairplaycars.com or see the street legal vehicles at www.evelsv.com.

GARIA GOES STREET LEGAL
On and off the course, golf cars have become the new standard for convenient and green transportation

With an estimated market share of over 70% by 2010, there is no doubt that smaller electrical vehicles also known as NEVs (neighborhood electric vehicles) or LSVs (low speed vehicles) are here to stay.

The Garia Luxury Golf Car, manufactured at the same factory that builds the Porsche Boxster and Cayman, is also available as LSV.

Built to the highest standards of the automotive industry, The Garia features a formula 1 inspired front suspension, a drive train built by an Italian company that also produces Ducati gearboxes, and aluminum profiles made by the same company that supplies aluminum profiles to Aston Martin, Jaguar and Volvo.

Available in August 2010, The Garia LSV is fitted with street legal safety equipment such as seatbelts and side mirrors, and it also has a hydraulic brake system.

Its small size makes it perfect for the city, and with tax-based incentives in many countries and an increasing number of states and countries that allow LSVs to be operated on roads with speed limits of 35 mph (50km/h) or less, LSVs no longer belong to the future market – they are the market.

Within the past few years, vehicles traditionally designed and used for recreational purposes are increasingly being used for non-recreational purposes. Any distinction between a golf car and an NEV/LSV has become blurred, and recent studies indicate that the number of privately owned vehicles in the U.S., mainly golf cars or modified golf cars, will increase to 118,000 by 2010 (from 98,000 units in 2006).

JANE ZHANG, CEO STAR ELECTRIC VEHICLES AWADED ERNST & YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR – CAROLINAS
Jane Zhang moved to the U.S. in 1989 to complete her graduate studies, an opportunity earned from graduating on the top of her class. Jane was not only strong in Engineering; she also had strong desire to excel at other financial and general management aspects of the business. While working full time and raising her first child with her husband Jun, Jane spent her weekends for three years completing her MBA at the Clemson University’s MBA program. In late 2003, Jane left her VP of engineering post to start up JH Global Services, Inc., which was formed as a global outsourcing and distribution company. Her idea was to evaluate the U.S. market to find opportunities to export/import and distribute products and/or services where a “reason for being existed.”

Jane quickly moved to the golf car and electric vehicle segment. She knew that there would be a strong future demand for electric golf cars and other vehicles based on the green movement and the aging boomer population. In addition, she knew that the big three golf car players (Club Car, E-Z-GO, and Yamaha) all tended to focus on golf course fleets instead of individual consumers and businesses. Jane sought to source and distribute golf cars and other electric vehicles that could offer businesses a quality product at a lower price. Thus the brand Star Electric Vehicles (JH Global DBA Star Electric Vehicles) was born in 2004.

Nearly every dollar of savings was put into setting up the company and buying the initial container load of vehicles that were sourced from a leading factory in China. Star EV is quickly working on future electric vehicle opportunities. These vehicles are already in high demand by the military, universities and other government and commercial businesses with “green” ambitions. As metropolitan areas grow the “electric’ infrastructure by adding charging stations these vehicles could be used by many in their daily commute.

AUTOMATED GUSS GOLF CARTS WILL BE MILITARIZED SOON
Drones are ubiquitous on today’s modern battlefields, from Iraq to Afghanistan and every where in between. Automated, gear-lugging golf carts? Not so much. That’s about to change though, thanks to a little guy named GUSS.

GUSS, short for Ground Unmanned Support Surrogate, is a short range hauler akin to BigDog, but without the terrifying night terrors.

Also like BigDog, Guss is controlled remotely (in this case by a system called WaySight). Using its collection of sensors and computer algorithms, GUSS can traverse all sorts of terrain in the day, night, and even inclement weather.

And even though GUSS is golf cart-esque, it’s more than capable of moving 1,800 lbs. of supplies in the field. Top speed is only 5mph, so the injured troop capability also being billed alongside this cart is a bit dubious.

A prototype for now, GUSS could see service by 2015, when 30% of the U.S. military is set to be unmanned.

FAIRPLAY WEBSITE IS BIG HIT
The new Fairplay website has improved in more ways than one.  The same eye popping graphics and ease of navigation that made the EVE LSV web site famous is now found on the Fairplay site.  But the web site is more than just a pretty face.  The dealer locator has been expanded to all brands so customer’s with specific vehicle needs can access the correct dealer for their area.

Another exciting addition is the DEALER LOGIN.  Now dealers can access a huge library of technical and support data.  “We have added historic information, for example, our wiring harness has changed over the years due to continuous improvement.  So we have included versions back to our first models,” said Jim Wilson, VP of Operations.  “Through our dealer login our dealers will have the latest technical bulletins and helpful instructions right at their finger tips, 24/7.”

“We are focused and on track for our 2010 mission,” says Keith Andrews, President.  “Our mission is to reach a level of quality in everything we do that is second to none.  The improvements to the web site, AC motors, AGM batteries, extend range packages and expansion of products, is all part of achieving that mission.”

“Last year we relocated our production and assembly to Southern California.  This move improved quality, allowed us to expand our product offering, reduced delivery times and helped us control cost.  We, along with our dealers, are very excited about where we are now and even more excited about where we are going,” Andrews added. CUSTOMIZED GOLF CARTS A BIT OVER PAR
Lincoln Way is no longer just the home of antiques, auctions and bluegrass concerts; it now features customized golf cars.

Owner Terry Agin, who has owned Lincoln Way since 1968, is collaborating with several others on the business venture, Lincoln Way Golf Carts. He wishes he had started it 10 years ago.

“I can’t believe how good they sell and how fun they are to work on, Agin said.

The business at 2817 Ohio 602, began by happenstance. “I had an old golf car and sold it to the first guy that looked at it. I upgraded one for myself and decided it would make a good business,” Agin said.

Agin said when the cars come in, they usually are painted green or red. Agin and his business associate, Brian Rankins, strip them and rebuild each to customers’ specifications. Chad Sweitzer does the custom paint jobs and XT Innovations installs seats.

The carts, either gas or electric, take Agin and his partners one to seven days to complete. Agin said he sells about an equal number of gas and electric models. “Campgrounds seem to buy more of the electric because of the fact the gas carts make more noise,” he said. “The cost for each is about the same depending on what the customer wants, which could run between $1,500 and $7,500.”

Deb Pinion, director of the Bucyrus Area Chamber of Commerce, said Agin’s business is unique. “This is what entrepreneurs across America are doing. They are finding a niche market, opening business and doing well,” she said. “I think Terry and his partners have a great idea and will do well.”

Nivel Parts & Manufacturing, the largest independent distributor in North America, is proud to introduce its new line of Complete Dash Assemblies.
Superior in design and quality, Nivel’s new dash assemblies are unmatched in the marketplace with these exciting new features:

• Dash has a more durable, tactile feel that perfectly compliments the stylish design of the dash assembly’s patterned finish.
• Available in the most popular three finishes: Regal burl, Carbon fiber and Titanium.
Available for multiple golf car makes and models, the dash assemblies also include locking doors to safely store valuables and cup holders on select models.

Nivel is also extremely excited to announce that it has used its unmatched global sourcing expertise and advanced engineering capabilities to bring these dashes to our dealers not only with improved quality and stylish looks; but at a new competitive wholesale price.

KOLLMORGEN AND FLIGHT SYSTEMS INDUSTRIAL SYSTEMS INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTS (FSIP) ANNOUNCE AFTERMARKET SERVICING AGREEMENT ON DRIVES AND CONTROLS FOR ELECTRIC FORK LIFT TRUCKS
Agreement provides OEMs with a lower-cost, remanufactured solution supported by world-class expertise, service and technology

Kollmorgen, a leading global manufacturer of drives and controls for electric fork lift trucks, and FSIP, a leading provider of remanufacturing services for electric vehicle control systems, have agreed to an Aftermarket Service Agreement, effective immediately.  Under terms of the Agreement, FSIP will be the exclusive remanufacturer of Kollmorgen drives and controls for the North America electric fork lift truck market.  Kollmorgen is most widely recognized under the company’s previous branding of Danaher Motion, as a supplier of drives and controls to OEMs of electric fork lift trucks.

“Partnering with FSIP helps us better support and bring additional value to our OEM customer’s aftermarket businesses in North America,” says Brian Lubin, Business Unit Director, Kollmorgen Electric Vehicle Systems.  “These customers will have ready access to a lower-cost, high-quality remanufactured drive and control solution through FSIP, and directly supported by Kollmorgen through revision control and testing.  Additionally, the Agreement will extend the availability of legacy Kollmorgen drive and control products.”

“This Agreement aligns with our strategic focus of nurturing alliances with industry-leading manufacturers of electric vehicle components and systems, and doing so allows us to provide our customers with the most recent upgrades to the control hardware and software,” explains Barry Bowman, President of FSIP.  “As the intellectual property of today’s electric vehicle controls become more complex, these alliances enable us to truly remanufacture the control and not just ‘repair it’ or ‘swap it out’ as may be the case with other repair facilities.  It also provides the market with an alternative to ‘new,’ while maintaining the integrity of the control as a remanufactured product.”

Between now and May 2010, Kollmorgen and FSIP will be sharing data, test capabilities and other important drive and control functions.  The companies anticipate that the full launch of remanufactured Kollmorgen drives and controls for electric vehicles will begin in May.

HOME ON THE RANGE!
Not sure what the deer and the antelope are doing now days to get around, but if they had the new Limited Edition EVE LSV DELUX they could roam about 60 miles.

Most customers who purchase an LSV want to know the age-old question, “What’s the range?”  Typical lead acid battery configurations in two passenger vehicles have six, eight-volt batteries and provide a range of around twenty-five miles.  Now, thanks to the efficiency of their new AC drive system with Fullriver AGM batteries; Fairplay’s 2010 Limited Edition EVE LSV DELUX has posted an impressive sixty plus mile range.

“We are very excited about the range we are seeing in this model”, says Keith Andrews, President of Fairplay Electric Cars.  “Our combination of maintenance-free batteries with our reliable AC powered motors now puts our package way ahead of the pack.”

The AC motor and AGM Full River battery package is standard equipment on the 2010 Limited Edition EVE DELUX.  However plans are to expand the offering.  “In late summer we plan to introduce more vehicles with AC power and the AGM extended range packages”, adds Andrews.

For more information on the 2010 Limited Edition EVE LSV DELUX with the extended range AGM batteries and to see the complete line up of Fairplay Electric Vehicles go to www.fairplaycars.com or www.evelsv.com.

INTERSTATE BATTERY SYSTEMS OF AMERICA NAMES U.S. BATTERY MANUFACTURING COMPANY ‘SPECIALTY BATTERY SUPPLIER OF THE YEAR’ FOR THE EIGTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR!

U.S. Battery Manufacturing Company has been Interstate Battery’s supplier of choice when it comes to manufacturing the best deep cycle and special application batteries. Providing the best quality product available is not just a request by Interstate, but a requirement that has been the basis for the Interstate Battery distributor systems continued growth year over year in their domestic deep cycle market share. U.S. Battery has taken this responsibility to heart and has worked very hard to become the best supplier possible. During this long business relationship, U.S. Battery has been awarded Interstate’s “Supplier Excellence” award for ten consecutive years. “While this may be achievement enough for some” stated Donald Wallace, executive vice president, “we were going for the gold.” To that end U.S. Battery has been chosen to receive the “Specialty Supplier of the Year” award by Interstate Battery for the past eight consecutive years as well as receiving “Plant of the Year” each year during this same period of time. The criterion used to measure suppliers consists of on-time shipping, percentage of fill rate and overall warranty.

Using Interstates scoring system, U.S. Battery has consistently been in the high 90th percentile and has actually hit 100% in two 12 month fiscal periods, the only supplier in Interstates history to do so. Wallace stated, “This year on year achievement became somewhat of an internal battle cry. We worked towards that 100% goal no matter the cost. It is always so difficult to measure the cost of good customer service so this is an area where the company chose to focus on excellence in customer satisfaction rather than the bottom line. In the process of our attempts to hit Interstates goals we were able to elevate the levels of both customer service and satisfaction to our entire customer base, while at the same time maintaining a company wide warranty rate of .14%! We constantly have the IBS distributors telling us how good the product is, where they use terms like “bullet proof”, stated Wallace.

We are proud of our long relationship with Interstate Battery Systems of America and we are deeply gratified to have helped them consistently grow their deep cycle market share by providing exemplary products and service. Every U.S. Battery employee takes great pride in being the best they can be and our continued ability to prove this by winning Interstates quality and service award is a testament to those efforts.

U.S. Battery Manufacturing Company has manufacturing facilities located in Corona California, and Evans, and Augusta Georgia. Visit www.usbattery.com for more information.

CLUB CAR CELEBRATES TWO MILLIONTH VEHICLE ON EARTH DAY
Small vehicle manufacturer doubles production in nine years

The two millionth vehicle produced by Club Car is an achievement company founders never would have imagined when they began producing golf cars 52 years ago. In fact, the low-speed passenger vehicle that came off the production line today in a ceremony marking the manufacturing milestone wasn’t even made here until last year.

Golf cars and utility vehicles dominated production at Club Car during its first half century. But the vehicle chosen to symbolize the manufacturing milestone, which fell on Earth Day 2010, was a Villager LSV, an eco-friendly zero-emission vehicle that incorporates a number of features as defined by federal regulations that enable LSVs to be driven on specified public roads with speed limits of 35 mph or less.

LSVs are the fastest growing segment in the light transportation vehicle market. They’re especially popular for short commutes, shopping, transpiration and deliveries in campus-style environments, including hospitals, clinics, schools and universities.

“One of the hallmarks of Club Car over the years has been innovation and the ability to produce vehicles that meet – and sometimes even anticipate the needs – of our customers,” said Gary Michel president and CEO of Club Car, “Zero-emission low-speed vehicles, which reduce our nation’s dependence on foreign oil and provide an environmentally friendly mode of travel, are an example of that ongoing commitment.”

Michel credited Club Car employees as the “champions’ responsible for producing a million vehicles in record time. “We have a great team of people who come and work with one thing on their mind every day: How to improve on yesterday” Michel said.

The ceremony was attended by Club Car associates, executives from parent company Ingersoll Rand and a number of local political and civic leaders. Augusta Mayor Deke Copenhaver read a proclamation that declared April 22, 2010 “Club Car Day in Augusta.”

The event coincided with the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, the global celebration of environmental awareness. In recognition of its commitment to sustainability, Ingersoll Rand on Thursday launched its Center for Energy Efficiency and Sustainability (CEES). The center will focus on identifying and implementing best practices for the long-term use of energy and other resources for customers and communities.

Speaking at the Club Car ceremony, Jim Bolch, president of Ingersoll Rand’s Industrial Technologies Sector, said the CEES would partner with non-governmental organizations and universities, as well as technology and industry leaders to fund research, support scholarships and host seminars on the subject of environmental sustainability. “Maybe most importantly, we’ll engage and educate our won employees about ways to bring green solutions to market and to make our own organization and the communities we serve even more green.” Bolch added.

Club Car’s two millionth vehicle was produced nine years and one month after Club Car reached the one-millionth milestone.

“Our business continues to evolve as our customers’ needs and the types of customers we serve continue to evolve.” Michel said. “It’s hard to predict the vehicle that may symbolize the three millionth Club Car, but I’m sure it will be one that is right for the times.”

The HydroLink watering system will be available as an aftermarket accessory as well as factory-installed on Trojan batteries in select golf cars, like the RXV and TXT 48.

“Trojan is pleased with the extended opportunity to further strengthen our partnership with E-Z-GO,” said David Godber, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Trojan Battery Company. “E-Z-GO’s decision to use Trojan Battery in all of their fleet golf cars is an undeniable testimony to the quality products and services we provide.”

“Extending our partnership was an easy decision stemming from the outstanding collaboration that existed between our two companies,” said Kevin Holleran, president of E-Z-GO. “Trojan’s innovative battery technology has enabled E-Z-GO to integrate vital technological advancements such as the TruCourse Technology featured in our TXT 48. In addition, we rely on Trojan for its exceptional field support, which has resulted in improved efficiency and a higher level of customer service provided by E-Z-GO dealers and service locations nationwide.”

E-Z-GO’s new TXT 48 is an update of the proven TXT electric golf car platform with a 48-volt DC drivetrain and E-Z-GO’s exclusive TruCourse Technology system, offering more customization settings than any other fleet golf car on the market. The combination of the 48-volt DC drivetrain and TruCourse Technology also makes the TXT 48 10 percent more energy efficient than the previous 36-model, and its improved regenerative braking system provides up to 10 percent more power back into the batteries under normal operating conditions – lowering operating costs for the golf course operator.

As of mid-April, the TXT 48 and other new electric vehicles from E-Z-GO will also feature Trojan’s new T2 Technology, a series of refinements integrated for enhanced performance in Trojan’s most popular deep cycle golf batteries. Engineered to address the increasing performance demands of advancing OEM requirements, T2 Technology builds upon Trojan’s historically proven technology and incorporates improvements in electrochemical processing and battery design to achieve maximum sustained performance and deliver more total energy.  Improvements include enhancements in Trojan’s Alpha Plus® Paste and the Maxguard® separator design. The T2 Technology will be available to the general public in Trojan’s flooded, deep cycle batteries starting in June.

On March 1st, 2010, FSIP formalized an acquisition of certain assets of General Electric’s Motion Controls Business.  The acquired business is primarily located in Patillas, Puerto Rico and it manufactures and distributes controls used in various electric vehicle applications:  forklifts, neighborhood electric vehicles, golf carts, walkies, tuggers, go-carts and personnel carriers.

FSIP is the industry’s leading remanufacturer of controls for the electric vehicle control market.  FSIP remanufactures over 45,000 controls annually and is associated with many of the industry’s leading OEM’s.  FSIP remanufactures controls for forklifts, aerial lifts, golf carts, scrubbers/sweepers, personnel carriers and mobility controls.

Also, through this acquisition, FSIP will continue to perform the warranty service for the GE product and will retain exclusive rights to the GE trademark.  “We will comply with regulations and specifications that apply to the product line. Golf Car Dealerships Sign On

The electric bicycle industry is picking up speed and going mainstream in America.  That’s the view of eZeebike USA, Inc., the year old exclusive U.S. distributor of a premiere line of electric bicycles moving onto “Main Street” in many communities throughout the country.

“There is an amazing symmetry, we are discovering, that exists with our electric bicycle and the electric golf car business,” said Joel P. Gayner, president and CEO of eZeebike, USA.  “Their customer profiles and lifestyle choices are the same.  Our exclusive dealer in Rancho Mirage, CA “The Electric Ride Store”, has already received two containers of bikes, and his prime selling season only began last October 15th.  Golf car dealers get it, they see how eZee electric bicycles add a significant profit potential, without increasing overhead.”

The eZee brand, nearly 10 years old and already distributed in 13 countries, is well known for its quality construction and ease of maintenance.  Its current eight model domestic product line, sports an MSRP of $1,995 (for the compact/foldable Quando that can easily fit into a car trunk or be carried onto public transportation) to $2,495 for the top-of-the-line Forza performance bike.  Other models in the line include a beach cruiser, commuter, mountain bicycle and a tricycle.

“In order to build out the market, we started to sell dealerships in the second half of 2009.  To date, 11 eZee dealerships and independent authorized retailers have been established in the U.S. with numerous others in queue,” said Gayner.  “We’re working to define the electric bicycle industry by developing an eZee bike eco-friendly lifestyle coupled with branded eZee bike stores.  We’re encouraged by the marketplace response and the willingness of entrepreneurs to invest upwards of $50,000 to purchase protected territories and become part of our dealership network.” For information about purchasing an eZeebike USA dealership, visit www.ezeebike.us.

CLUB CAR INTRODUCES VISAGE
Golf’s First Mobile Information System Transforms Golf Car’s Role From Basic Transportation to Business Solution

A golf car’s primary function is transportation, but equipped with the right technology its potential goes far beyond moving golfers and their equipment, according to Club Car, which has introduced golf’s first mobile information system. Known as Visage, the system represents the golf car industry’s most extensive marriage of vehicle and technology to help course managers address critical revenue and expense needs while enhancing customer satisfaction.

Visage utilizes a combination of cellular, wireless and Global Positioning System technologies to create what Club Car calls the “new face of customer experience.”

Visage, a joint development of Club Car and GPS Industries LLC, puts a robust set of features and benefits at the fingertips of golfers that include: Intuitive touch-screen technology, 10.2-inch screen with 1000 nit brightness that automatically adjusts for changes in natural light and enhanced graphics of each hole. 3-D flyovers with audio (similar to network television coverage), tee-shot distance stats and scorecard and tournament management features that make it easy to keep up with scores of other players during a competitive event.

Visage is available on Club Car Precedent and DS electric- and gas-powered golf cars. When Visage is installed on Club Car’s Precedent golf cars equipped with the Excel power drive system, the vehicle also comes with the Guardian SVC system installed at no additional cost. Visage can be installed on any brand of golf car. Visit www.clubcar.com.

FAIRPLAY EXPANDS 2010 PRODUCTION IN THE USA
Fairplay Electric Cars, LLC located in Grand Junction Colorado has signed a long term lease in Southern California. “It is very exciting for us to increase capacity and rely on our made-in-America quality,” said Keith Andrews, President of Fairplay. “The expansion doubles the size of our assembly plant here in the United States. Our dealer network reports a noticeable improvement in quality since the middle of 2009 when we started manufacturing in America.”

Fairplay enjoyed rapid growth last year in the Low Speed Vehicle arena, with sales of the popular EVE brand, spurred on by the Federal Tax stimulus. “Our initial focus with the EVE LSV was to offer a competitive price point to stimulate interest and allow the MSRP to draw customers in fro our dealers,” Andrews added. “This was possible due in large part to a great group of suppliers in the United Stated who provided us with quality parts at competitive prices.”

“The reaction from dealers and customers had been fantastic,” states Ryan Alexander, National Sales Manager. “Our assembly facility here allows us to offer a custom OEM product mix to our dealers, something that puts us head and shoulders above most other manufacturers, either domestic or imported.”

For more information on where you can test drive the new EVE LSV or see any of the fine line of Fairplay Electric Car products, go to www.fairplaycars.com or www.eve-lsv.com.

IT’S THEIR VEHICLE FOR SUCCESS
Golf Cars of Houston co-owner says most buyers use them for reasons other than the sport.

Towering over Interstate 45 in north Houston is a 1,100-square-foot sign for Golf Cars of Houston. But less than a fourth of the vehicles sold at the dealership are used by golfers. The rest are purchased by families with beach and lakefront properties, or by companies. “As an industry, we’ve gotten away from the term ‘golf cart’,” said Derek Severns, co-owner of Golf Cars of Houston. “A golf car is something you drive; a cart is something you pull.”

Severns, 37, a former golf course manager, launched Golf Cars of Houston in 2004 with partner Sonny Thornton.

The two first bought a small dealership in Kingwood, and then began planning for a super center in north Houston. Severns said the idea for a golf cart super center is unique in that his showroom stocks more that 100 vehicles, versus the usual 10 or 12 found in a dealership.

“We wanted to bring the sales and service experience indoors, not outdoors, like it had been done,” Severns said. “Customers are more sophisticated today, and it used to be that mom-and-pop operations were their only option.”

Within six years, Severns said, the pair’s business grew to roughly $4 million in annual revenues to more than $10 million in revenues last year. That’s between new and used vehicle sales, service and parts sold at its three locations, among them the super center.

“We’re just like a car dealership,” Severns said. “We rely on everything to make this business work – be it service, sales, parts or rentals.”

WIRELESS RECHARGING SYSTEMS DEVELOPED IN WEST MICHIGAN COULD POWER GOLF CARTS, ELECTRIC CARS
Wireless recharging systems developed by two West Michigan companies could soon enable electric golf cars and electric cars to re-energize without tangled cords or bulky plugs.

Gill Industries Inc. and Fulton Innovation LLC unveiled a high-power system, able to transfer 1,000 watts of energy as smoothly as an electric toothbrush recharges in its cradle.

“The development is done. Now we’re getting more to the marketing phase,” said Richard Perreault, president and chief operating officer of Gill Industries. Fulton Innovation, a subsidiary of Alticor Inc. is based in Ada Township, Michigan. Gill’s headquarters are in Plainfield Township, Michigan.

The partners unveiled their new charging system at the Consumers Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Perreault expects the first customers to be golf car manufactures. “They produce about 450,000 golf carts a year, and about 60 to 70 percent of them are electric,” he said. Eventually, Gill hopes to market the wireless recharging system to automakers.

The charging system is controlled by a mini-computer that senses charging time and matches it to the least costly time of day. Depending on the site of the cart’s battery, the vehicle could be pulled into a bay of garage where the wireless recharging unit is built into the floor.

E-Z-GO INTRODUCES TXT 48 FLEET GOLF CAR
E-Z-GO, a Textron Company, has introduced the TXT 48 fleet golf car, the next generation of the classic E-Z-GO TXT vehicle. The TXT 48 updated the proven E-Z-GO TXT electric golf car platform with a 48-volt DC drivetrain and exclusive TruCourse Technology system that allows golf course operators an unprecedented degree of freedom in tailoring the vehicle’s performance to match the unique topography and conditions of their course.

TruCourse Technology offers more customization settings than any other fleet golf car on the market, allowing course owners to alter TXT 48 performance characteristics such as acceleration and motor-braking to best fit conditions of their course. An optional handheld diagnostic tool provides even greater customization capabilities.

The combination of the 48-volt DC drivetrain and TruCourse Technology also makes the TXT 48 more energy-efficient. The vehicle offers 10 percent greater energy efficiency than the pervious 36-volt TXT golf car, and its improved regenerative braking system provides up to 10 percent more power back into the batteries under normal operating conditions – lowering operating costs for the golf course operator.

The same technology gives the TXT 48 better on-course performance than its predecessor, with greater, more consistent power and hill-climbing from the first hole of the day to the last, and downhill speed control that offers a comfortable ride over even steep paths and grades.

“Whether a golf facility needs the industry-leading, second-to-none energy efficiency and performance of the RXV, or the enhanced performance, classic styling and increased efficiency of the TXT 48, E-Z-GO offers the fleet golf car to meet those needs.” Holleran said. Like all E-Z-GO vehicles, the TXT 48 is manufactured in Augusta, Ga., at E-Z-GO’s world headquarters, recently honored as one of the top ten manufacturing facilities in North America by Industry Week magazine. COLUMBIA WINS ANOTHER LARGE ORDER FROM THE U.S. GOVERNMENT
First of Nearly 1,000 Low-Speed Vehicles Being Installed Now

Two months after Columbia ParCar Corp. of Reedsburg, Wisconsin announced it landed a 799 vehicle order from the General Services Administration; the company was awarded an additional order for 192 of the same model vehicles from the U.S. Government. “The order of 799 vehicles was the single largest order ever for electric-powered, Low Speed Vehicles,” Todd Sauey, Columbia’s President said. “To obtain the award for 192 more vehicles so quickly is confirmation Columbia is providing vehicles that fit well into the U.S. Government’s objectives.”

Shipments for the first order of all-electric vehicles have already begun and are destined to 47 separate U.S. Army installations throughout the United States. The most recent order for 192 additional vehicles is planned to be installed at carious locations that include U.S. Air Force, Navy and Marine installations, as well as certain FAA installations, Kennedy Space Center and numerous National Parks throughout the United States.

Columbia has been selling vehicles to various government agencies for years. However, these two orders alone represent more sales of Low Speed Vehicles to the government than the total volume reported through the General Service Administration from all suppliers, the 21 month period ending September 30, 2009. Columbia is planning to have all of the nearly 1,000 vehicles delivered in accordance with the Government’s requirements by March of 2010.

The Low Speed Vehicles, sometimes referred to as Neighborhood Electric Vehicles, purchased first are a part of the Army’s far-reaching energy security strategy. It’s designed to save energy and money, help wean the Army from fossil fuels and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. According to the U.S. Army, the 799 vehicles are part of a three-year plan to replace 4,000 non-tactical, gasoline-powered vehicles used for passenger transport, security patrol, delivery services and maintenance purposes.

Columbia officials shared information form a January news release in which the U.S. Army reported estimated annual energy savings of $740 for each electric vehicle used in place of a gasoline-powered car. “Saving more than $500,000 each year by developing only 799 vehicles in a fleet of more than 70,000 is a strong driver for any organization. It also is a great example of how these vehicles are not only good for the environment and our nation’s energy policy, but good for the economy as well. Breckley added. CLUB CAR ANNOUNCES FIRST LOW-SPEED PASSENGER VEHICLE
Qualified buyers can receive Federal tax credits amounting to nearly half the cost of the energy-efficient LSV

Club Car announced that its first street-legal low-speed passenger vehicle will begin shipping the week of November 4, 2009, giving businesses and consumers time to take advantage of Federal tax credits that amount to nearly 50 percent of the suggested retail price for the new Villager 2+2.

The zero-emission LSV from Club Car carries up to four passengers and builds on the Villager’s history of providing dependable energy-efficient transportation for thousands of businesses and consumers worldwide.

LSVs are the fastest-growing segment in what is known as the small task-oriented vehicles (STOV) market, increasing by nearly 50 percent in the last year, according to International Market Solutions, a NY-based research firm.

According to a study conducted by Green Car Institute, a nonprofit California research corporation, consumers and businesses are using LSVs instead of cars or trucks with gasoline internal combustion engines for daily short-distance trips and for cargo transport. In the same survey, LSV owners said they purchased the nimble, street-legal vehicles because they offer an environmentally friendly mode of travel, save on gasoline and fit their lifestyle and business needs for economical transportation.

The Four-wheeled motor vehicles weigh less than 3,000 pounds and have a top speed between 20 and 25 mph. Currently LSVs are allowed in 47 states and the District of Columbia on many roads where the posted speed limit is 35 mph or lower.

In accordance with LSV requirements, Club Car’s Villager 2+2 features headlights, taillights, brake lights, turn signals and a horn. In addition, a wrap-around impact-resistant bumper system and an onboard charger are standard. Colors include white (standard), beige and black (optional), diamond white pearl, titanium silver, and desert sand (premium). Option packages are available.

“Even WHEN the purchase of an LSV does not replace a personal or commercial vehicle, it will replace many of the miles a vehicle with an internal combustion engine is used for, and that’s going to translate to fuel and energy savings as well as convenience,” said McElreath.

Club Car vehicles are sold through authorized dealers. To locate a dealer, go to clubcar.com and click on Dealer Locator.

PIMP MY GOLF CART
It seems that golf carts have escaped. They have shed their surrounding, dropped the dowdy image and hit the streets to become the latest must-have accessory.

Across Europe, popularity is growing and can be measured by the number of celebrities queuing up to jump on the buggy-wagon. The most recent purchase was by pop star Cheryl Cole, who bought husband and Chelsea footballer Ashley Cole, a “Mini-Hummer” buggy as a gift, spending $8,000 customizing the cart with gold-plated hub caps, Swarovski crystals and a trunk for his golf clubs.

Dominik Jackson, owner of Mini-Hummer says demand for the vehicles has rocketed since 2006: “It started as a glorified golf buggy. But since adapting the look we’ve had demand from all over Europe and even from royal families in the Middle East.” The carts are already on the roads in Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, and the company is planning to launch a new fully enclosed Mini-Hummer in London next year.

While Europe is catching up with the trend, there has been a big market for “pimped” golf carts in the United States for some time. I’d say about 99% of our sales these days are for individual use,” says Randy Hopper, owner of Sick ‘N’ Twisted Designs, one of the largest bespoke golf cart manufacturers in California. “We build customized golf carts to the specific requirements of the customer – we pretty much do everything.”

And this really means everything. Modern carts are now built with leather seats, wooden dashboard, surround-sound systems, iPod players, lower lighting and air bags, in a variety of themes – street, lifted, off-road and even Limo carts.

Sick ‘N’ Twisted customer Dave Johnson is having his golf cart pimped and modified to match the color of his boat: “It’s going to be burgundy with 12-inch wheels, full sound system and air-bags that adjust the height of the cart.” Dave insists that in his neighborhood, golf carts are more of an everyday than a luxury item: “They’re practical, affordable and it’s nice to cruise around and see your neighbors.”

So is this a case of keeping up with the Joneses? “There’s no official competition on our street, but people take notice of things like that. It’s definitely seen as a status symbol.”

While the golf cart remains a staple on the fairways, the souped-up street version is no longer just par for the course.

MALACCA RESORT TO USE HOME-MADE GREEN BATTERIES FOR GOLF CARTS
A renowned resort in Malacca is taking the government’s call to migrate to green technology seriously.

A’Famosa Resort Hotel Sdn Bhd said all golf carts used on its 27-hole championship golf course will soon be powered by the Green Golf Car batteries developed by ETI Tech (M) Sdn Bhd.

The A’Famosa Resort in Alor Gajah, Malaccan has a full range of recreation facilities including an exclusive 326-room hotel, golf course, water theme park, equestrian, clubhouse, fishing pond, archery, cycling and jogging paths, animal world Safari, swimming pool and health center.

The resort’s director Datik Kevin Lau said it has tested ETI’s green battery over the last 8 months and was pleased with its performance and lower operating costs.

“This is the first green golf cart battery that is lead-free and environmental friendly, developed and manufactured by a Malaysian company. We are proud to announce that our golf course is the first in Malaysia to switch to green battery,” Lau said.

A’Famosa Resort has more than 100 golf carts and all of these golf carts will be converted to use WTI’s Green Battery starting in August.

Lau said as a family oriented resort, it is essential to ensure that the resort is free from pollution and contaminants such as lead and toxic fumes released by lead acid batteries.

ETI Tech, a MSC-status company, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of TEI Tech Corp Bhd, which is an investment holding company listed on the ACE market of Bursa Malaysia. ETI is principally involved in the research and development of intelligent battery management systems for rechargeable energy storage solutions using polymer lithium-ion based energy cells.

ETI Tech chief technology officer Y.K. Khor said the company completed development of GGC battery early last year. He said not only were GGC batteries smaller and lighter, they also deliver longer range than the lead batteries previously used by the resort.

SatSports GPS INTORDUCES THE POCKET CADDY
For golfers, no other golf GPS application offers as many features or as much mapping flexibility as Pocket Caddy. The applications “Flyover” feature presents a 2D and 3D flyover of the holes to give the golfer a realistic visual of the hole prior to teeing off. From anywhere on the course, Pocket Caddy gives live yardages to the front, middle and back of the green. Unlike most other golf GPS systems, Pocket Caddy defines the front as the nearest point to the live position, not nearest point to the tee. Additionally, the application provides yardages (or meters) to hazards which help with club selection.

Monitoring, recording and interpreting statistics is a critical component of golf and Pocket Caddy is an invaluable tool that will help golfers improve this aspect of their game. Pocket Caddy records critical information such as club used and lie of the ball during specific shots, fairways/greens hit, putts per hole and distance of each club. Once the golfer is finished with their round, they simply sync their Satsports GPS device to their computer and the Stats Viewer program catalogues the data. Stats Viewer also has an output to Google Earth so golfers can replay their round in 3D. This feature can be used to compare two rounds from the same or different players, instantly highlighting differences in play.

Pocket Caddy currently has over 700 golf courses available but with Pocket Caddy’s free online Pocket Caddy Membership, anyone can either download new golf courses or maps, or upload new golf courses to the database. With Pocket Caddy’s DIY Course Mapping software and Google Earth, members can easily map their local courses from the comfort of their home in about 20-40 minutes. Once a member has uploaded a new course, they will receive a credit that can be exchanged for a course that another member has mapped.

  • Combines true real time interactive navigation for skiing, snowboarding, golfing, running and cycling enthusiasts
  • PC software syncs GPS data with Google Earth to replay data in 3D
  • Optional SD card turns device into a street navigator with voice commands
  • High-quality components: 2.7″ touch screen, SiRF Star III antenna, Samsung 400Mhz processor & Micro SD card slot

JOCKEY CLUB, SEBONACK FIRST TO GO ALL SOLAR WITH CLUB CAR GOLF CAR FLEETS
In the face of mounting energy costs, some courses are not standing idly by while their meters churn. The Jockey Club Kau Sai Chau Public Course in Hong Kong recently became the world’s first golf facility and the Sebonack Golf Club in Southhampton, N.Y., the first U.S. golf club to power their entire golf car fleets with solar energy. Both courses retrofitted their existing Club Car fleets using the SolarDrive system, which is part of the Club Car Solutions Network.

A study of energy used by the Golf Resource Group recently concluded that most golf courses use between 250,000 and 5 million kilowatt hours (KWh) of electricity in their annual operations. At the high end, that’s equivalent to the amount of electricity used in 278 2,500-square-foot houses, according to the report from the Phoenix-based research firm.

“Power costs are very expensive here on Long Island and are getting more expensive around the world,” said Michael Pascucci, owner of the Sebonack GC, which is ranked No. 7 in  Golfweek’s 100 Best Modern Courses and No. 39 in Golf Digest’s American’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses. “Why not take advantage of the free solar power we have on earth?”

But reducing the charging requirements for the club’s 40 golf cars and lower it’s electric bill isn’t the only reason Pascucci retrofitted his fleet with solar canopies.

“We penciled it our and concluded we were going to get our money back pretty easily,” said Pascucci, who first saw the solar canopy system while playing golf with Ernie Els in Jupiter Florida, last winter. “But even if the numbers weren’t as strong as they are, I still would have done it.” The price of SolarDrive panels (normally $2,700) often can be defrayed by approximately 30 percent with tax incentives.  For information about tax credits and incentives when purchasing products that promote energy efficiency through solar technologies, go to www.dsireusa.org/solar.

Pascucci thinks Sebonack members will be impressed that their club is going green. “I think it’s really a positive thing for our members and their guests to see that they’re not using any energy while they’re riding around on the sun’s power. It makes a statement, “ Pascucci said. The SolarDrive–equipped golf cars capture and convert daylight into energy that can be used to power the vehicle (on sunny or cloudy days) and to supplement energy created by the car’s electric batteries. Pascucci calls the system “a major industry innovation.”

The solar –cell roof panels installed on 40 cars at Sebonack and on 205 cars at The Jockey Club Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course were designed and engineered by SolarDrive, a Denmark-based firm specializing in off-grid, solar technology for mobile use. SolarDrive and Club Car entered a marketing alliance earlier this year to promote the use of solar energy.

The high-profile nature of Sebonack and Jockey Club, and their decisions to go all solar, are expected to lead other courses to evaluate the technology, according to Mike Read, marketing director for Club Car’s golf car category. “The need to conserve energy as a means of lowering costs combined with more widespread environmental awareness makes solar energy an attractive strategy for many courses,” he said. “We think we’ll see more courses here and in other parts of the world take a serious look at solar.”

COLUMBIA PAR CAR CORP. WINS HISTORIC GOVERNMENT ORDER FOR LOW SPEED ELECTRIC VEHICLES
Columbia ParCar Corp. Announced it has Landed an order for (799) vehicles from the General Services Administration, Federal Acquisition Service. “This is the single largest order ever for electric-powered, Low Speed Vehicles,” Todd Sauey, Columbia’s President, acknowledged. “We are especially proud to win contract considering the lengthy and stiff competition we faced against several other manufacturers in our industry.”

Some of the vehicles that the U.S. Army will receive are similar to the one used by the Police department in Reedsburg, Wisconsin where Columbia is headquartered.

The all-electric vehicles are destined for (47) separate U.S. Army installations throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. Low Speed Vehicles, sometimes referred to as Neighborhood Electric Vehicles are a part of the Army’s far-reaching energy security strategy. It’s designed to save energy and money, to wean the Army from fossil fuels and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. According to the U.S. Army, the (799) vehicles are part of a three-year plan to replace 4,000 non-tactical gasoline-powered vehicles used for passenger transport, security patrol, maintenance, and delivery services.

The company is pleased to win this bid and is gearing up to fill the contract. “Securing such a significant order for our company helps the local economy and has a positive impact on job growth here in Wisconsin and throughout our supplier base, as well, “Sauey said.  “We have hit the ground running and are working to meet the aggressive delivery schedule the government established to meet the Army’s objectives.

“Columbia officials shared information from a January news release in which the U.S. Army reported estimated annual energy savings of $740 for each electric vehicle used in place of a gasoline-powered car.  “Savings more than $500,000 each year by deploying only 799 vehicles in a fleet of more than 70,000 is a strong driver for any organization. It also is a great example of how these vehicles are not only good for the environment and our nation’s energy policy, but good for the economy as well,” Breckley added. FAIRPLAY EVE LSV QUALIFIES FOR BIG TAX CREDIT
On April 24, 2009, the IRS announced tax credits that could benefit taxpayers who purchase qualified Low Speed vehicles.  According to the IRS code, taxpayers may qualify for one of the following credits:

The ARRA Credit.  A credit equal to 10% of the cost of the vehicle, up to $2,500 for a LSV purchased after February 17, 2009 and before January 1, 2012 or The EESA Credit.  A credit of $2,500 to $7,500 for a four wheeled vehicle that draws propulsion using a rechargeable battery with at least four kilowatt hours of capacity purchased in 2009. The actual credit is determined by the capacity of the battery and limited to range of credits listed above. Calculation of the Fairplay Tax Credit on the EVE LSV is $4,234.72

We asked Ronald Paredes, the Application Engineer at Trojan Batteries in Santa Fe Springs, California, to calculate the Kilo-Watt-hours of the commonly used T-875 the battery system. In his response he confirmed that an LSV/NEV equipped with 6 of the T-875 batteries (48 Volts) has 8.16 KWh and therefore meats the requirements. The math is as follows:
The Trojan T-875 battery at a 20 hour discharge rate; has 170 Amp-hours (Ahs)
The Watt-hours (Wh), is the product of the Ahs times the voltage (8 Volts): Watt  = 170 Ahs x 8 = 1360 Wh per battery
Kilo-Watt-hours (kWh) is Wh divided by 1000 for each cycle: 1360 Wh/1000=1.36 kWh per battery x 6 batteries in the pack=8.16 kWh

Therefore the T-875’s met the minimum requirement and qualifies for the $2,500 tax credit plus and additional 4.16 kWh @ $417=$1,734.72 for a grand total of $4,234.72.  This is good news since many vehicles in the Fairplay EVE LSV uses this battery configuration. Here are some FAQ’s;

Which cars qualify?  All qualified LSV’s (aka NEV’s) such as the Fairplay EVE meet the Title 48 CFR, Chapter V, Part 571.500 Standard No. 500 specifications purchased in 2009.

Do Golf Cars Qualify?  No.  Only qualified LSV vehicles sold in the correct time period qualify.

What does the term certified mean?  This term refers to the newest IRS guidelines wherein the manufacturer must apply for a certificate and receive notification of approval.  A copy of the certificate will be provided by Fairplay to the EVE dealer, who in turn will give a copy to the end user to use when applying for the tax credit.

Can a taxpayer get both credits?  No.  The taxpayer can only get one credit on vehicles that qualify for both…obviously the higher credit would be the one to request.

Who will determine the credit?  This is the same credit on the certification request submitted by Fairplay for the EVE LSV and will be listed on the official certificate.

Are multiple Credits available?  Yes.  The credits are available for each vehicle.  The limitations will be based on the customer’s ability to use all the credits based on their income. Taxpayers should seek advice and council of reliable tax consultants or accounts.

How long is the $4,234.34.00 credit in effect?  With cars sold by December 31, 2009

What forms to use for consumers to claim for the tax credits?   The most recent notice published on IRS web site indicates the July 2009 version of form 8834 will be used for ARRA credit, and a new form 8936, named as Qualified Plug-in Electric Drive Motor Vehicle Credit, will be used for EESA credit.

How does the tax credit work?   This means a dollar for dollar reduction of the amount the taxpayer owes to the IRS in 2009.  Customers who plan to use the tax incentive should seek tax advice in advance of the purchase to be certain this deduction will work for them. For a summary of the release from the IRS go to http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=207051,00.html

GPSI EXECUTIVE: U.S. SATELLITE SYSTEM ‘Too Important’ to Fail; GOLF INDUSTRY SHOW SHOULD NOT EXPERIENCE INTERRUPTED SERVICE

A recent government report that questioned the viability of the U.S. global positioning system should not concern golf courses that have come to rely on GPS as a course management tool and a technology that enhances their customers’ golf experience, according to officials at GPS Industries.

The Government Accountability Office, a federal watchdog agency, recently warned of “significant challenges” to maintaining the satellite-based navigation system at full strength beginning as soon as 2010. The report cited technical problems and delays in a $5.8 billion plan to upgrade the system with next-generation satellites.

“If the government concludes that some banks are ‘too big to fail,’ we’re confident it also will decide that the GPS program is too important not to be maintained at the highest standard,” said Alex Doaga, executive vice president and chief technical officer for Sarasota-based GPS Industries, an international developer of global positioning systems and Wi-Fi multimedia solutions for the golf industry.

Doaga called GPS a “strategic technology” that supports a wide range of government and commercial ventures. ”We rely on GPS to guide missiles, ambulance drivers and golf cars to their destinations,” he said. “The government says it has the issue under control, and we can’t envision any disruption of service.”

The technology publication PC World also took a reassuring stance in reaction to the GAO report, saying there are two factors working in GPS’s favor: “One is its popularity with consumers. Second is its role in national security, making it imperative that a solution be found and raising the political pressure to do so.” Golf courses utilize GPS to manage their golf car fleets, tracking their battery status and limiting their use in certain areas. Golfers also use the technology to determine distance and communicate with course personnel to place food and beverage orders, for example.

The GPS uses 32 satellites orbiting 12,000 miles high, each circling the globe every 12 hours. Officials at u-blox, the Swiss company that supplies GPS receivers for GPSI applications, notes that the current GPS constellation is augmented by three Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) satellites developed by the Federal Aviation Administration. WAAS satellites can be received in North America and are not affected by the GAO warning, effectively increasing the GPS constellation to 35 satellites. The satellites broadcast radio signals to earth with information about their location and the exact time the signal was transmitted. By calculating the difference between the radio signals received, GPS receivers on the ground can accurately determine their own location. Currently there are more than 30 satellites in space; they are regularly replaced as they age and fail. The first replacement satellite is expected to be launched in November. BATTRECON’S SULFATION ELIMINATION PROCESS: SCIENCE OR SNAKE OIL?
Bravo Zulu International Ltd., a company specializing in the design and development of motive industry lead-acid battery de-sulfation devices, has announced the development and release of the Batt-Recon Model 4800 AGC.  The “AGC” is a lead-acid battery de-sulfating machine developed specifically to de-sulfate Golf Car batteries in about 20-30 minutes.  Since 2007, BZI has become the recognized leader in the forklift battery restoration market with their Patent Pending Model 4800 “M” Motive/Industrial system.  This system has revolutionized the motive battery market saving clients thousands of dollars per battery, restoring batteries that were once deemed only salvage value

Golf car operators using the Model 4800 M have had great success, but wanted a smaller, lower cost version dedicated to the Golf Car Industry.  The larger Model 4800 M was redesigned and made smaller, lighter and just as fast, at a fraction of the cost.  The new model was designated the “AGC,” Automotive/Golf Car Version, and is a breakthrough in technology allowing for the first time, a commercially viable method to restore an entire golf car set of batteries in about 20-30 minutes!  You simply install the Model AGC clamps onto the entire battery pack (the batteries stay in the car during the process) and turn the Power Select Knob to the desired amplitude.  Wait about 20 to 30 minutes and move the AGC to the next golf car, and so on.

Using the AGC in your Golf Car business saves charging electricity, extends the life of your battery pack, and generates cash flow by allowing you to provide a valuable service to your clients.  For the first time, you can restore batteries that are returned in lease vehicles, rather than simply replace them!

Bravo Zulu International Ltd., a company in the southern Los Angeles California Area, is now offering the Model 4800 AGC Professional Battery De-sulfation system for sale or rental.  For more information about saving thousands of dollars per year on your fleet operations, contact the company at 951-928-0595, or visit them on the web at www.battrecon.com.

NEW GOLF CAR SEATS DESIGNED TO HAVE YOUR BACK IN LUXURIOUS STYLE

Golf enthusiasts and brothers, David and Dan Vahala, share a love of the game and an eye for innovative business opportunities. Their newest inspiration? Luxurious and stylish seats that fit on golf cars.

“It’s simple when you think about it. People expect comfortable seats in their cars, they choose comfortable seating for their homes, so why not enjoy those same benefits when you’re riding on a golf car?” said David Vahala, President, Ultimate Golf Seating, with headquarters in Elkhart, Ind. and offices in Naples, Fla. “On average, you’ll spend four hours playing a round of golf, so we designed our seats to offer exceptional back comfort and also be stylish.” Medical experts agree.

“What I really like about Ultimate Golf Seating is that you don’t have to think about sitting properly to protect your back. These seats support your whole back and you can feel that right away,” said William S. Billmyre of Billmyre Chiropractic Life Center. “There’s nothing worse than not being able to do something because your back hurts. These seats invite you to sit in them.”

“These seats are great for the natural curve in your spine, and they offer cervical support with the adjustable headrests,” said Dr. Murray Johnston of Southwest Spinal Care. “Nearly 90 percent of my patients play golf, while 95 percent of them are over the age of 65 and nearly 100 percent of them have disc problems. The Ultimate Golf  Seating product forces you to sit the way you should, and that helps promote spinal health.”

Ultimate Golf Seating has three styles of seats available, along with a palette of color selections. All of the seats can also be custom embroidered to include, for example, a customer’s favorite club or team. The Luxury Bucket and Luxury Bench seats look like the type of seats you would find in a luxury car. Both feature adjustable headrests and lumbar support, and fold-down armrests. The Luxury Bucket style offers a center locking console, while the Luxury Bench style offers a center fold-down armrest. The seats are made with high-quality, marine grade vinyl for proven durability, while underneath is a foam made of a superior resiliency polyurethane similar to high-end mattresses.

“Golf cars are outside a lot, so we wanted to use materials that were made to withstand UV rays, yet also be easy to clean with our Ultimate Stain Shield Protection coating,” said Vahala. A third design, the Premier Bench Seat, offers the same quality of materials and comfort as the Luxury series, but is designed for fleet use.

FLOW-RITE CONTROLS HONORED AS ONE OF THE 2009 “MICHIGAN 50 COMPANIES TO WATCH”
Flow-Rite Controls has been recognized as one of the 2009 “Michigan 50 Companies to Watch,” an awards program sponsored by the Edward Lowe Foundation and presented by Michigan Celebrates Small Business.

“In today’s economy, Companies to Watch has become a real game changer,” says Penny Lewandowski, director of entrepreneurship development at the Edward Lowe Foundation, a nonprofit operating foundation based in Michigan. “It changes the conversation from slow-growth, layoffs and closing, to companies that are expanding, hiring, and moving beyond traditional markets.”

“Presenters of the Michigan program recognized this potential since its inaugural year, five years ago,” Lewandowski says. “With a vow to find 50 new companies to celebrate each year, Michigan 50 Companies to Watch is now 250 strong. These are the companies that sustain Michigan through tough times and are transforming how the rest of the nation views the state.”

As a vertically integrated company, Flow-Rite Controls designs, manufactures, and markets fluid control devices that are widely used in lead acid batteries, recreational fishing boats, laboratory and medical devices. Flow-Rite is continuing to expand its product line up to include refill valves for tire inflation as well as a new line of fasteners that will be used broadly across all industries.

When asked about being selected, Flow-Rite’s President Dan Campau said, “Our team is excited to have been selected as a Michigan 50 to Watch Company. It’s nice to know that even though our work is buried in the bilge of a boat or under a forklift seat, it still gets noticed. We are excited to explore our many growth opportunities with both our existing and upcoming new products. In anticipation (of this growth) we have just completed a 49K square foot addition that doubled the size of our facility. Through our business growth across the country and in international markets, we are proud to call Michigan our home.”

Companies nominated for the “Michigan 50 Companies to Watch” list must be second-stage companies, defined as having 6 to 99 full time equivalent employees and generating $750,000 to $50 million in annual revenue or working capital from investors or grants. In addition, the companies must be privately held and headquartered in Michigan.

GOLF CAR VANDALISM, MISUSE PLAGUE OPERATORS, SURVEY FINDS
Nearly three-quarters of golf course operators surveyed reported some vandalism or misuse of their golf car fleets, at a price tag estimated at more that $8 million per year, according to a report prepared by Club Car.

Some of the key statistics unveiled in the recently issued whitepaper included:
72 percent of courses reported vandalism or golfers playing extra holes without paying for them
27 percent of operators reported retrieving a golf car from a lake or creek
48 percent reported unauthorized use of golf cars
42 percent reported golf cars being driven in unauthorized areas
21 percent reported theft of golf cars

Several insurance providers contacted for the survey cited the costs resulting from golf car vandalism or misuse, both actual damages and lost revenue as well as higher insurance rates for courses which do not take steps to protect their golf car fleet from vandals.

GOLF INDUSTRY SHOW RANKED 77th LARGEST OF THE YEAR
The Golf Industry Show received the No. 77 ranking from Tradeshow Week magazine for its 2008 event in Orlando, up from No. 82 the previous year.

Tradeshow Week compiles data submitted from trade shows and ranks the 200 largest annual trade shows in the United States. Rank is determined by net square feet of paid exhibit space. Show listings include: net square feet, number of exhibiting personnel, space rates and location. The ranking covers the 2008 calendar year only. There are approximately 3,500 trade shows that occupy 5,000 square feet or more of exhibit space each year in the United States.

Overall attendance at the 2008 Golf Industry Show in Orlando was a record 25,737, and there was a record 10,553 qualified buyers – those who can directly influence a purchase decision. The trade show itself was the largest ever with 965 companies represented with exhibits covering a record 300,900 square feet.

“This ranking is a great measuring stick against other trade shows outside of the golf industry and provides positive feedback for our exhibitors,” show officials noted. “We look forward to next year’s show in San Diego, the formal addition of the USGA, and the format enhancements that will be so beneficial to everyone involved in the event.”

The Golf Industry Show is presented by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCAA), National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA), and Club Managers Association of America (CMAA), along with participating partners Golf Course Builders Association of America (GCBAA), American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA), and the National Golf Foundation (NGF). TROJAN BATTERY INTRODUCES HydroLink™ WATERING SYSTEM

Pre-installed on Trojan Batteries for fast, easy and safe battery watering.

SANTA FE SPRINGS, CA. – Trojan Battery Company, the world’s leading manufacturer of deep cycle batteries, introduced today its new patented HydroLink™ Watering System for all 6 volt, 8 volt and 12 volt golf car batteries.

Trojan’s HydroLink™ system delivers accurate battery watering to help maximize battery life, provides significant time savings with a complete set of batteries filled in less than 30 seconds, protects the value of golf cars by reducing damage from corrosion and improves overall battery watering safety.

Developed in partnership with Flow-Rite Controls™, the leading designer and manufacturer of watering systems, Trojan’s HydroLink™ also provides customers important advantages not offered to the golf car industry today:

•  Pre-installed on your Trojan Batteries – HydroLink™ is available pre-installed on Trojan golf car batteries, removing the guess work on proper installation for customers.  With one simple snap of a single valve from the watering tube into each HydroLink™, the system is ready for use.

Independent Water Level Indicator – Trojan’s HydroLink™ comes with an independent, non-mechanical water level indicator that is simple to read.  A white indicator means that the battery needs water and a black indicator means that the battery has enough water.  The HydroLink™ indicator will not give a false reading unlike competitive products that utilize mechanical readers.  Mechanical readers experience trapped floats which cause false water readings.

Snake Tubing – The new durable and flexible snake tubing design easily snaps into the HydroLink™ system reducing installation time.  The snake tubing’s molded connections also decrease the number of connection ports and the possibility of them becoming disconnected.

Safety – HydroLink™ comes with both internal and external flame arrestors making it the safest watering system available today.  It also eliminates acid and gas exposure while filling the batteries.

Lowest profile design in the industry – HydroLink™ will easily fit into any existing or new golf car vehicle and its low profile reduces the opportunity for damage to the watering system itself.  It also eliminates interference with other components, such as charger systems.

“With the introduction of HydroLink™, Trojan Battery is addressing a major customer need which is the ability to easily maintain Trojan deep-cycle batteries,” states Rick Godber, President and Chief Executive Officer for Trojan Battery.  “Trojan selected Flow-Rite as our partner because they manufacture the highest quality watering system in the industry, which aligns with Trojan’s premium batteries.  All three major golf car manufacturers install only Trojan batteries into their electric vehicles and we believe their customers will benefit from maximum battery life and major time savings with the Trojan HydroLink™ Watering System.”

Trojan’s HydroLink™ will be made available to all golf original equipment manufacturers, including Club Car, E-Z-Go and Yamaha, as well as to Trojan’s worldwide Master Distributor network.

“Flow-Rite is excited to be partnering with Trojan Battery.  Leveraging Trojan’s patented MasterVent™ technology with Flow-Rite’s expertise and watering system patents, we have been able to deliver an innovative solution to the golf car market,” states Dan Campau, President of Flow-Rite Controls.   “Watering systems have become highly popular in deep-cycle battery markets due to the fact that it takes less than 30 seconds to fill a set of batteries.   Based on current market acceptance, Flow-Rite predicts that over 80% of the golf market will utilize watering systems in the future.”

HydroLink™ will also be offered into Trojan’s other core markets utilizing golf size batteries, including Floor Machine, Material Handling and Renewable Energy applications. For an online demonstration of Trojan’s HydroLink™ Watering System, visit us at www.trojanbattery.com/HydroLink.

COLUMBIA RECEIVES APPROVAL TO LEASE LOW SPEED VEHICLES TO U.S. GOVERNMENT

First NEV Manufacturer to receive contractual approval to provide direct leasing

REEDSBUR, WI. – Columbia ParCar Corp. Announced today that they are the first manufacturer to receive contractual approval to lease Low Speed Vehicles directly to U.S. Government agencies utilizing the Multiple Award Schedules Program of the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA).

Previously, Low Speed Vehicles (LSV’s) were only available for purchase from manufacturers as a part of the GSA program. Now, LSV’s (often referred to as Neighborhood Electric Vehicle or NEV’s) can be leased directly from Columbia. “This is a critical step forward for agencies that until now, were only able to purchase these types of vehicles outright,” according to Scott Breckley, Columbia’s Vice President. “Now, instead of drawing from limited acquisition budgets, agencies can shift operational funds previously spent on leasing fossil-fuel powered vehicles to leasing green, efficient, all-electric powered transportation,” Breckley added.

According to Kellen Chicoine, Columbia’s Director of Engineering; “Electric vehicles are inherently more efficient than gas powered vehicles. They consume less energy, require less maintenance and produce zero tailpipe-emissions. This means that an electric vehicle will yield a lower, total cost of operation that its fossil-fueled counterpart, especially important given the economic challenges all organizations now face.”

The environmentally friendly vehicles manufactured by Columbia are considered plug-in electric drive motor vehicles, which are built to comply with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s classification for Low Speed Vehicles. “These vehicles are perfect for military installations, national parks, federal prisons and other locations where a vehicle has a range of 50 miles or less between charges,” according to Todd Sauey, Columbia’s President. “Not only does the use of our electric vehicles help reduce greenhouse gases, but there is a significant savings in fuel cost as well,” Sauey continued.

The U.S. Army recently reported an annual energy cost savings of $740 for each electric, Low Speed Vehicle that replaces a gasoline-powered car in their fleet. “The benefits that will result from the U.S. Army’s plan to lease 4,000 LSV’s over the next three years alone, are phenomenal. There will be a considerable savings of tax-payers money and our environment will improve dramatically,” explained Sauey.

Columbia has drawn from more than 60 years of electric vehicle manufacturing experience to develop and sell new, plug-in electric drive motor vehicles. “We have always been looked to as a leader in our field. And now that agencies can select the more cost-effective  method of leasing Low Speed Vehicles, we are proud to be at the forefront of providing the U.S. Government with clean, affordable and efficient electric transportation to replace fossil-fueled vehicles,” reported Breckely. PGA PROS, SUPERINTENDENTS IMPRESSED WITH FLEET MANAGEMENT CAPABILITIES OF CLUB CAR’S GPS-BASED GUARDIAN SYSTEM

AUGUSTA, GA. – Club Car’s new golf car fleet management system is helping the University of Texas Golf Club tell it’s members “no” without ever having to say the word.

Like most courses, the Austin club has some places, including native rough areas with minimal irrigation, where it would rather its players and golf cars not go. The course’s cart paths also have a few sharp turns and steep downhill areas where the club wants to make sure players proceed slowly and with caution. Now, with the help of Club Car’s Guardian SVC system, which operates based on GPS technology, the University of Texas club programs its golf cars to keep players away from environmentally sensitive areas and slow to safe speeds at certain points on the course.

“The system eliminates things people don’t like on a golf course, like marshals telling them what they can’t do and ropes and stakes that take away from the beauty of the course,” says Greg Garner, head golf professional at the private course in Austin. “It’s a much cleaner approach to educating your member.”

Using the golf car industry’s first Local Interconnect Network, which allows the vehicle’s controller and on-board computer to communicate in real time, Guardian makes it easy for course managers to define restricted areas and limit vehicle access and maximize speed anywhere on the course. “I don’t think it could be any simpler,” Garner said.

The private University of Texas Golf Club is the first course to install the Guardian system, which is designed to help golf facilities protect their course and their players while lowering operating costs. The system, which can be accessed from any computer with a Internet connection, is capable of limiting vehicle access, controlling vehicle speed, reviewing the history of where the golf car has been driven and monitoring and diagnosing vehicle performance.

David Yanez, golf course superintendent at The Grand GC in San Diego, California, who saw the product demonstrated during the Golf Industry Show in New Orleans, earlier in the year, was impressed with the system’s round-replay and safety features. “Our mechanics spend a lot of time fixing carts that are damaged on the golf course. The golfer may say, “It was like that when I got it,” but this system gives us recourse to show when and where the damage occurred so we can charge the person responsible,” Yanez said. “We have a lot of fairly step grades and switchbacks. So having the ability to control speed is a great feature from a safety standpoint,” Yanez added. “The first time you avoid a lawsuit because you’ve prevented an accident, you have more than paid for this system.”

Guardian also monitors the golf car’s electrical system to prevent a vehicle from going onto the course with an insufficient charge to complete the round. Diagnostic capabilities help course technicians identify and address potential vehicle faults.

“The system provides an unbelievable amount of information,” Davis says. “And it’s not just fluff – it’s valuable information that would help us manage our fleet more effectively.”

Club Car worked with GPS Industries (GPSI), a Sarasota, Florida –based global media and technology firm, to develop the Guardian software. GPSI will provide assessments installations and training to Club Car customers.

The Guardian system is offered on Club Car’s 2009 Precedent models equipped with the company’s Excel drive system. It also can be installed in the field on existing 2008 Precedent i2 and i2L Excel models. For more information please visit www.clubcar.com.

HYDROTURF INTRODUCES SOLAR POWERED GOLF CART

After a year of testing, solar-powered golf carts are almost ready for the UAE market.

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES – Saving up to 70% energy than regular golf carts and reducing CO2 emissions by 100%.

As the region continues to address environmental concerns with the second World Future Energy Summit recently concluding in Abu Dhabi, Dubai-based Hydroturf, the Middle Eastern distributor for SolarDrive launched the first solar powered golf carts into the market. Ideal for use on golf courses, hotels, resorts, parks and municipalities, the solar powered carts have a state of the art SolarDrive roof made up of crystalline solar cells which charge while they are driving, extending the battery lifetime through continuous charging. Tests were carried out on golf courses in the Emirates where the solar carts were used together with Club Car battery power carts, allowing their performance to be directly compared. In all tests the solar power cart out-performed the battery powered vehicle.

As the cart charges while driving, it proved to be not just more cost effective. With such a favorable outcome, Hydroturf are looking to convert existing fleets and offer solar solutions t all new Club Cars in the UAE in 2009.

“We are incredibly excited about this product and think that it will greatly contribute to helping reduce the carbon footprint of the region. There are thousands of Club Cars in operation in the UAE alone. If we can replace even half of these with the solar powered vehicles we will be reducing carbon emissions on the gasoline products as well as saving up to 70% of energy that the cart would use re-charging,” said Brian Goudie, General Manager, Hydroturf, Club Car & Trojan speaking on how the carts could benefit the region.

PERFECT GIFT FOR FAVRE FANS

DUBUQUE, IA. – Scott Harris just might have the perfect gift for that hard-to-buy for Brett Favre fan.

Harris, who operates Harris Golf Cars in Peosta, Iowa, will auction off the $9,000 custom built golf cart the former Green Bay Packers and New York Jets quarterback used on his 450-acre property in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, for the last year. Harris, his son Calvin and friend Bob Leytem delivered a new cart to Favre early March.

The cart will be displayed in Harris’ showroom through the end of the month. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Brett Favre Foundation.

“He kept it in very good shape, but that doesn’t surprise me at all,” Harris said. “Everything in his machine shed is in pretty much immaculate condition. You could eat off the floor in there. The whole property is manicured almost like a golf course.”

Harris’ cousin John Schneider serves as the Packers’ personnel analyst to the general manager and set up a meeting between Favre and Harris toward the end of the 2007 NFL season. Favre wanted a custom-built, camouflage golf cart to ride around his property and plans to order a new one every year.

The local groups spent nearly three hours visiting with Favre and renewing the year-old friendship. Favre even threw a few passes to Calvin Harris, providing the thrill of a lifetime for the young fan.

A year ago, when Harris delivered the cart, he wasn’t quite sure if Favre was completely retired from football. But now, the lingering effects of a torn bicep will more than likely keep the future Hall of Famer on the sidelines for good. “He seems really content right now,” Harris said.

WORKING THE INAUGRATION

HARRISONBURG - The Presidential inauguration was so big and involved so many people, a Harrisonburg business was called in to help.

The National Park Service and partner agencies rented almost 100 vehicles from Virginia Golf Carts to use throughout the festivities.

Of the carts shipped to Washington D.C., about 60 were four-passenger vehicles 10 are six-passenger and 30 are made to haul cargo, owners said. The carts were used for security, VIP transport and emergency services. The carts were loaded onto tractor-trailers and will be returned a day or two after the events. Owners declined to comment about how much they were paid by the park service for the contract.

“It’s very cool to be part of such a monumental event,” said Chad Dunham, who owns the business with his father, Ron Dunham. “This is once in a lifetime.”

The government wasn’t the only one to turn to golf carts for the inauguration, high-end hotels, such as the Hay-Adams Hotel, have rented a half dozen of the carts to move their guests around the festivities.

This evening, the environmentally friendly, “Green Inaugural Ball” held inside the EPA building will use “Global Electric Motorcars,” vehicles that look like glorified golf carts, to shuttle VIP guests to and from the events.

After their carts return, the Dunham’s will continue to rent them for various outdoor events.

Since 1999, the Dunham’s business, based on Early Road, has used its 700-cart fleet for events ranging from county fairs to corporate gatherings to even NASCAR. Officials for the stock-car racing circuit use the golf carts to transport folks across the inside of the large tracks, Dunham said.

The Harrisonburg golf carts will take turns shuttling folks around tracks in Bristol, Martinsville, Richmond, Daytona, FL., Darlington, SC., Chicago, IL., Miami, Fl., and Atlanta, GA.

GET READY TO PIMP YOUR GOLF CARTS, CHICAGO For Chicago, going green may mean going electric.

The Neighborhood Electric Vehicle - sort of a golf cart on steroids — gets a top speed of 35 miles per hour. And unlike the Toyota Prius and other hybrids, electric cars are low-speed vehicles with electric motors and re-chargeable batteries that operate only on electricity. The battery can be re-charged by plugging it into a standard household electrical socket. The electricity, costing about $180 per year, is considerably less than the cost of gasoline.

“Not only is the city looking for green initiatives or green ways of transporting people around the city of Chicago, but the general public is looking for ways to move from one end of the city to the other,” said Eileen Joyce, the city’s Assistant Commissioner of Fleet Management.

The NEVs showcased Tuesday are built in North Dakota by Global Electric Motors, a division of the Chrysler Corporation. They have cup holders and sunroofs, everything you might expect of a car, except for the electric plug on the front end.

“You have mirrors, you have lights, and you have a safety glass windshield. This is not just glass you’d find, or plexiglass like you’d find on a golf cart,” said Senior Automotive Equipment Analyst Matt Stewart.

Under the hood sits an electric motor. The batteries are under the seat, good enough for short trips and errands.

One of the advantages of the NEVs is that they can be built to accommodate different uses. Some can be strictly people movers while others can be created to resemble a small pickup truck.

The city already owns four NEVs and is considering buying more if the ordinance is approved. For the public, they’ll run about $12,000 and will require a city sticker and a special low-speed vehicle sticker, but under state law would not require license plates.

CLUB CAR CHAIRMAN TRALIES RECEIVES PGA AWARD FOR LIFETIME CONTRIBUTIONS TO GOLF

ORLANDO, FL. - Club Car Chairman Phil Tralies received the Ernie Sabayrac Award from the PGA of America in recognition of lifetime contributions to the game of golf.

Tralies, whose business leadership and support for the game has made the Augusta-based manufacturer one of the most respected brands in golf, received the award Thursday night at the PGA of America awards ceremony held in conjunction with the 56th PGA Merchandise Show.

Tralies, who joined Club Car in 2001 as president and CEO and was named chairman in January 2008, has guided the company to prominence in domestic and global markets. Under his leadership, Club Car launched a number of new products into the golf market, resulting in significant market share gains.  He also expanded the company’s global presence and transformed Club Car from a company focused on golf to one that manufacturers small task-oriented vehicles that serve a wide range of commercial and consumer markets beyond golf.

A native of Philadelphia, Tralies began his golf career in 1979 with Textron Inc., a global, multi-industry company that included E-Z-GO and Jacobsen. Tralies left Textron in 2000 to form P.J.T. Golf Capital LLC, a company focused on golf course financing for owners and operators, before coming to Club Car in 2001.

AUGUSTA, GA. - E-Z-GO, a Textron, Inc. Company, announced the launch of its Online Battery Training Center. This free online resource, available through the E-Z-GO website at www.ezgo.com, allows owners of E-Z-GO electric vehicles to quickly learn about proper maintenance of batteries in their fleets, using tips and tools that can maximize battery lifespan, increase energy efficiency, and ultimately reduce a facility’s impact on the environment.

Lessons are provided in English and Spanish in numerous topics, including proper watering of batteries, regular battery inspection and testing procedures, battery storage procedures, proper wiring and mounting of battery chargers, and management of energy usage. Each module includes a brief exam to test the user’s mastery of the material.

The center is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, allowing E-Z-GO fleet owners to train their maintenance personnel at their own pace and as a part of their regular work routines.

By following the procedures outlined on the Training Center, owners can extend the lifespan of their batteries, reducing energy costs and the environmental impact of unnecessary battery disposal.

“We are proud to offer this important resource to our customers,” said Michael R. Parkhurst, E-Z-GO vice president of global sales. “The E-Z-GO Online Battery Training Center not only helps our customers get the most out of their E-Z-GO fleet, but it also allows them to quickly and easily learn how to reduce energy usage and their facility’s carbon footprint.
