Jackson Holbrook transforms passion for customized vehicles into new venture catering to leisure-driven demand.
According to Kansas.com, a significant rise in golf car popularity inspired Wichita entrepreneur Jackson Holbrook to launch Toy Faktory Golf Carts, a unique dealership and customization shop opening this summer. Located in a newly constructed 7,000-square-foot facility on West Kellogg near 119th Street, Toy Faktory aims to capture the expanding market of golf car enthusiasts seeking customized, street-friendly cars for leisure and neighborhood use.
Holbrook, who grew up customizing vehicles like Jeeps and four-wheelers with his father, Reed Holbrook, noticed a distinct shift in recent years. Golf cars, once confined strictly to fairways, increasingly became neighborhood staples, favored for trips to community pools, parks, and local lakes. He recalls residents frequently asking, “Where can I get that?”—sparking his idea for Toy Faktory.
“People now view golf cars as fun, convenient alternatives to cars for short local trips,” Holbrook explained. This shift is partly driven by regulatory changes permitting golf cars on more public roads, significantly broadening their appeal beyond traditional golfing communities.
Holbrook previously owned the Sears Hometown Store at Towne West Square, where he experienced firsthand the constraints of leased retail spaces. “I quickly learned that owning the property outright would be critical for any future business,” he reflected. Consequently, he purchased the land for Toy Faktory’s new building, reinforcing his commitment to long-term business stability.
Toy Faktory will carry Evolution Electric Vehicles, a competitively priced line not yet available elsewhere in Wichita. “We’re thrilled to introduce Evolution’s stylish and dependable golf cars to the area,” Holbrook stated. Additionally, Toy Faktory plans to include electric bikes in its offerings, catering to customers interested in diverse electric transportation solutions.
Holbrook emphasized the growing demand for customization, noting customers increasingly request personalized cars reflecting their lifestyle or personality. Toy Faktory’s services will range from unique paint jobs and custom upholstery to upgraded wheels, audio systems, and performance enhancements.
Anticipating substantial interest, Toy Faktory plans to host events and demonstrations to engage the community further, positioning itself as a local hub for electric and recreational vehicle enthusiasts.
Holbrook’s decision reflects broader nationwide trends. As golf cars become everyday transportation options, entrepreneurs across America find lucrative opportunities in servicing, customizing, and selling these versatile vehicles. Toy Faktory’s anticipated success illustrates a market primed for continued growth and innovation beyond golf course boundaries.
