The 28th annual Minnesota Twins Celebrity Golf Classic brought athletes, fans, and community leaders together to support cancer treatment programs in Southwest Florida.

Sports and philanthropy have long shared a powerful connection, and the annual Minnesota Twins Celebrity Golf Classic continues to prove how effective that partnership can be.

Now in its 28th year, the event recently raised more than $65,000 to support the Lee Health Cancer Institute, helping expand access to advanced cancer care across Southwest Florida.

The event was hosted at Topgolf Fort Myers and featured appearances by current and former members of the Minnesota Twins.
Unlike traditional golf tournaments played on full courses, the Topgolf format allowed players of all skill levels to participate in a relaxed and interactive setting. Guests enjoyed team competitions, interactive golf games, and a lively atmosphere that encouraged both seasoned golfers and beginners to take part.

According to southfloridahospitalnews.com, the evening also included a silent auction and various prize competitions, adding to the event’s fundraising efforts.

For the Lee Health Foundation, the annual event represents a vital source of funding that helps expand cancer treatment services for patients throughout the region.

“We are incredibly grateful for the longstanding partnership with the Minnesota Twins that makes this event possible year after year,” said Brenda Jacobson, system director of central development for the foundation.

Because of community support and sponsorships, funds raised through the event help bring advanced technology, patient navigation services, and additional treatment options to patients and their families.

Over the years, the Minnesota Twins’ charitable golf initiatives have raised more than $2.2 million to support cancer care in Southwest Florida.
Sponsors for the event included presenting sponsor Twins Fantasy Camp, along with Whitemore Fire Consultants and RD Johnson Construction.

The event highlights how professional sports organizations can use their influence to bring communities together around important causes.

In Southwest Florida, the Minnesota Twins hold a special connection with the region through their spring training presence, which has made the team a familiar part of the local sports landscape.

That relationship continues to grow through charitable initiatives like the Celebrity Golf Classic, which blends entertainment with meaningful impact.

For cancer patients and families served by Lee Health, the funds raised help provide critical treatment resources and compassionate care during some of life’s most difficult moments.

Events like this demonstrate how a simple evening of golf can create lasting change far beyond the driving range.
