A legal dispute and law enforcement probe unfold.
Valley Golf Cars, a local golf car business, finds itself embroiled in a legal battle and under investigation by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department following allegations against its owner.
Green Valley resident Rick Gibson has taken legal action against Jack Randall Roth, the owner of Valley Golf Cars, filing a breach of contract lawsuit. Gibson claims to have loaned Roth $82,000 earlier this year, with an agreement stipulating that he would receive a significant portion of the proceeds from the sale of golf cars purchased using Gibson’s funds. Additionally, the agreement required Roth to put up 50% of his property as collateral, with Gibson holding all titles until the debt was repaid. However, Gibson alleges that Roth violated the terms of the agreement by failing to repay him and by transferring ownership of the golf cars into his name.
The lawsuit further alleges that Roth, despite never intending to form a partnership with Gibson, created a partnership agreement and attempted to sell off all assets of the supposed partnership, defrauding multiple individuals in the process.
Attempts to contact Roth have been unsuccessful, and the premises of Valley Golf Cars remained closed and unresponsive as of Friday.
In addition to the legal dispute, allegations of misconduct against Roth have surfaced. A woman, described as a business partner, reported to the sheriff’s department that Roth had defrauded her of over $100,000. Despite her attempts to disassociate herself from the business legally, Roth allegedly continued to use her name on company documents and credit cards.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that detectives are actively investigating multiple allegations of fraud against Roth, with four separate calls received within the past month. Furthermore, an incident of assault allegedly occurred at the premises of Valley Golf Cars, adding to the ongoing scrutiny surrounding the business.
A note posted on the door of Valley Golf Cars acknowledged the recent events and assured customers that legal action was being taken to address the situation. The business remains closed until further notice, pending resolution of the issues at hand.
