Follow the Law in Ocean Isle Beach

Police in a popular vacation spot ask golf car drivers to be careful.

With the tourism season in full swing, police in a popular North Carolina destination warned of golf car accidents.

The Ocean Isle Beach Police Department says golf car accidents are continually on the rise, according to WWAY TV3. One of the more common accidents they see is passenger ejections. Commonly, a driver makes a hard left, which ejects the passenger from the right-hand side of the car. Passengers are frequently not wearing seatbelts despite this being a requirement under North Carolina law.

The police department also warned about rear-end collisions. Lithium-battery-powered cars, WWAY reported, can stop suddenly when they lose charge. This makes it even more important, police say, to use seatbelts and age-appropriate restraints like booster seats for smaller children.
